Press Roll new at the top for a full reroll, or use the small ↻ on any field to lock the rest and reroll just that one.

Rerolling Class also rerolls the Subclass and Domains so they stay consistent.

The connection prompt at the bottom is a Session 0 question — answer it with the rest of the party to wire your character into the campaign.

How the Daggerheart character creator works

Daggerheart character creation has five core pieces: an ancestry (the species your character belongs to), a community (where they grew up), a class (their adventuring archetype), a subclass (a specialization inside that class), and the two domains that class draws cards from. Then you write a couple of Experiences — short freeform tags that capture skills, backgrounds, or memorable past events.

This tool randomizes all of that in one click, using the lists from the official Daggerheart SRD. Use it for inspiration, for one-shot pregens, or as a starting point that you then shape into the character you actually want to play.

The 9 Daggerheart classes

The Daggerheart core book includes nine classes, each drawing from two domains:

  • Bard — domains: Grace + Codex. Subclasses: Troubadour, Wordsmith.
  • Druid — domains: Sage + Arcana. Subclasses: Warden of the Elements, Warden of Renewal.
  • Guardian — domains: Valor + Blade. Subclasses: Stalwart, Vengeance.
  • Ranger — domains: Bone + Sage. Subclasses: Beastbound, Wayfinder.
  • Rogue — domains: Midnight + Grace. Subclasses: Nightwalker, Syndicate.
  • Seraph — domains: Splendor + Valor. Subclasses: Divine Wielder, Winged Sentinel.
  • Sorcerer — domains: Arcana + Midnight. Subclasses: Elemental Origin, Primal Origin.
  • Warrior — domains: Blade + Bone. Subclasses: Call of the Brave, Call of the Slayer.
  • Wizard — domains: Codex + Splendor. Subclasses: School of Knowledge, School of War.

The 18 Daggerheart ancestries

From mechanical guardians (Clank) to mushroom-folk (Fungril), Daggerheart's ancestries are deliberately varied: Clank, Drakona, Dwarf, Elf, Faerie, Faun, Firbolg, Fungril, Galapa, Giant, Goblin, Halfling, Human, Infernis, Katari, Orc, Ribbet, Simiah.

The 9 communities

Communities describe where your character grew up and shape their starting connections and worldview: Highborne, Loreborne, Orderborne, Ridgeborne, Seaborne, Slyborne, Underborne, Wanderborne, Wildborne.

What are Daggerheart Experiences?

Experiences are short, freeform descriptors — “Quick reflexes,” “Survived the Dragon Plague,” “Owes a god a favor.” You write them yourself; the tool above just suggests a few to spark ideas. When an Experience is relevant to a roll, you can spend a Hope to add +2 to that roll. The two Experiences you start with should pull your character in slightly different directions — that's where the fun complications come from.

Daggerheart Character Creator FAQ

Is this the official Daggerheart character creator?

No. The official tool is Demiplane's Daggerheart Nexus. This is a free, lightweight randomizer made by Minva that uses the public Daggerheart SRD as its data source — useful for inspiration, one-shot pregens, or breaking a creative block.

Where do I write down everything once I've rolled?

We built QuestHeart, a Notion template designed specifically for Daggerheart. Every database is mapped to the game's stats and structure, and it includes the full SRD adversary roster, NPC and faction databases, session prep tools, and more.

Does this tool cover Beastforms, Hope, Fear, or armor?

Not yet — this is a starting-point randomizer for the identity-level choices. Specific Beastform options, weapons, armor, and starting Hope/Fear tracking are usually decided at the table during Session 0.

What are the 9 Daggerheart classes?

Bard, Druid, Guardian, Ranger, Rogue, Seraph, Sorcerer, Warrior, and Wizard. Each class draws cards from exactly two of the nine domains — Arcana, Blade, Bone, Codex, Grace, Midnight, Sage, Splendor, and Valor.

How many ancestries are in Daggerheart?

Eighteen in the core book: Clank, Drakona, Dwarf, Elf, Faerie, Faun, Firbolg, Fungril, Galapa, Giant, Goblin, Halfling, Human, Infernis, Katari, Orc, Ribbet, and Simiah. Daggerheart also encourages mixed ancestries.
